'Rotto' Squad

The Official Rottnest Squad begins in the first week of November. This means the year round swimming group that train Monday and Wednesday nights 7-8pm at the Christ Church pool will split, so that Solo and Duo swimmers will train Tuesday and Thursday nights as well as Saturday mornings and the "Teams of 4" Rotto swimmers will remain on the Monday and Wednesday nights. This also allows those swimmers keen to join the group to begin in November and be ready to to cross the Rottnest Channel come February.

SOLO'S AND DUO'S TRAINING- WORLD CHAMPION OPEN WATER STAR TAKES OVER!!!!

After 6 years of single handedly coaching the Solo and Duo swimmers, Bill Kirby has decided to hand over the reigns

to a new coach to build on his success and passion. Bill has helped over 100 swimmers prepare for the Channel Crossing Solo, including many top 10 finishes as well as many successful tail enders (9 hour plus swimmers). It is with some sadness he has made this decision. However it is with much GLEE and HAPPINESS he can now support the     greatest open water swimmer Australia has ever seen SHELLEY TAYLOR-SMITH (World Champion 25KM Swimmer) as she takes the group forward into 2010. Shelley Taylor-Smith's web site (Champion Mindset)

Using the base program's and successful recipe of the years gone past, Shelley will be adding her expertise and flair to help prepare swimmers to be physically and mentally at the top of their game come race day.

TEAM OF 4 SWIMMERS

Paul Birch and Bill Kirby will be sharing the coaching duties of the Teams training sessions. Expect fun, challenging and informative workouts. Some will be designed to push you faster and further and others to make you think technique and streamlining.

Every session is different, with the season plan designed for a peak come race day.
